Requesting Overtime for Events (non-departmental employees) | If a department requires additional overtime and the department cannot fulfill the need internally, managers must contact Tory with the details of:
Tory will reach out to the C&T Overtime List and proceed with finding you overtime assistance. During the event, Managers are responsible for tracking employees' hours. After the event, managers are responsible for sending those hours to Tory as well as the COA that will be charged. If an event is happening during regular workday hours, employees are not eligible for overtime and must ask their manager to volunteer at the event. | If you are in need of additional assistance for your department that would require overtime, please contact victoria.spadaro@yale.edu.Do not reach out to employees in other departments directly for assistance. Please give at least 2 weeks notice (preferably more) prior to your event to Tory. YLS HR cannot guarantee that your overtime needs will be completely fulfilled, as this is based on C&T employee availability.

Summer Hours, Compression, FlexPlace, and FlexTime | Coming in Spring 2024- Summer Hours and Compression Time | FlexPlace Work arrangements are where the work will take place. FlexTime Work Schedules pertain to when work will be performed. Featured here are work arrangements, work schedules, and FAQ’s for both employees and managers.
Hours of Work, including Comp Time | The core business hours for all YLS departments are 8:30AM-5:00PM, M-F., with an hour for lunch. Summer hours are determined on a year-to-year basis, and are 8:30-4:30, M-F, with a half hour lunch. Managers are expected to work as much overtime as needed to complete an assignment. In rare circumstances, some comp time may be available. You will need to check with HR. Clerical and technical staff are entitled to overtime if they work more than 37.5 hours in a week; or if they work over the recess or holiday (which is paid at double time and half), and if they are called back to work after their normal ending time, then it is a minimum of four hours of overtime. If the overtime is contiguous to the normal end time, then it is paid at time and half. Clerical and technical staff may elect to take comp time instead of overtime, as follows: they may take comp time, on a time-and-a-half basis, for up to 2.5 hours of such overtime hours. | For any additional questions regarding time, please contact YLS HR.
