University Recording policy
The University Recording Policy prohibits surreptitious recording and creates standards regarding the recording of participants in classes, university-related meetings, or university events. The policy is intended to foster a spirit of trust and promote the free exchange of perspectives and ideas. The full policy is available here.
SAS Accommodations
If a student in your course is approved for recordings as an accommodation by SAS, YLS Academic Affairs will reach out to you for recording approval. Please note that if you give recording approval for students with excused absences during the semester, you must give approval for students with recording accommodations. For more information, please reach out to Marissa Cabrera (marissa.cabrera@yale.edu).
Support for Student Absences
Individual recording accommodations for students who are out sick can be made by emailing av.law@yale.edu with the name of the student, course title, and date(s) of class. If you have not received a confirmation prior to your class, please call the YLS AV helpline at (203) 432-2277.
Please note: Requests for synchronous student attendance of in-person classes via Zoom cannot be accommodated.
Classroom Technology Support
For classroom technology support, please provide the AV team with as much notice as possible by submitting your requests early. If you have not received a confirmation for a request made within one business day, it may not be scheduled. If you have a last-minute request, please email av.law@yale.edu or call the YLS AV helpline at (203) 432-2277.
If you require specialized technological support (e.g., a synchronous Zoom meeting for a guest lecturer), please submit an AV request or contact av.law@yale.edu as soon as possible to ensure adequate support is available.
Recording Retention Policy
All class recordings are kept for one full academic year after the year they were recorded. Each June, we will delete all recordings from the previous academic year. Class recordings can be found on Canvas under the Media Library link in each course. Faculty with questions about this policy can contact me at Stephen.Baraquin@yale.edu.
