Activating your NetID

What is a NetID

All employees at Yale are provided an email address and a NetID. Your NetID is associated with a password you create. Taken together, the two are used to authorize access to Yale computer resources. Once you have activated your NetID and created your password, you will be able to log into your computer, check your Yale email and access Yale websites that require authorization.

What is a PIN?

A PIN is a single-use series of numbers and letters required to activate a Yale NetID. During the activation process, you will set a password and answer a series of security questions that can be used to recover a forgotten password.

How do I activate my NetID?

Open any browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and click here to visit the NetID Activation page.

Select Faculty or Staff, or Sponsored Identity and click Next.

This is where you will input your PIN. The pin is case sensitive.

Enter your Birth Date.

Click Next.

Enter an alternative email address and click Next.

You will be asked to create NetID security questions. Once that is complete click Next.

At the prompt, create a password. Your password must meet the following requirement: 8-127 characters in length, a mix of characters, including letters, numbers, and special characters, and no dictionary words and their common substitutions.
