Appointment Process

  • Your appointment terms are determined between you and your faculty sponsor.  Not all appointments are renewable, but you should be in touch with your faculty sponsor at least three months before the end of your current appointment to determine future status. 

  • You are paid monthly, on the last working day of the month.

  • Depending on the type of appointment that you have (research, post doc, post grad), you may have to complete a self-evaluation before any reappointment.

Vacation and Sick Time

Vacation and sick days are not recorded for fellows in Workday.  Our guidance is to generally follow the M&P policy (see above) but always clear any planned time off with your faculty sponsor.  There is no payout of unused time at the end of the appointment period.

End of Appointment/Termination/ Resignation

  • If you are ending your appointment early, you MUST email your resignation to Karen Alderman at karen.alderman@yale.edu, as far in advance of the end date as possible.

  • If you are ending on the appointment end date, you or your faculty sponsor should notify Karen Alderman.  You will be paid through your last working day.  Your benefits will end on the last day of the month in which your appointment ends.
