Getting Started at YLS

 How do I complete the I-9?
 When will I get my NetID?

You will receive an email with your NetID when your appointment process is complete. Information on activating your NetID is available here: NetID

 When can I get my ID and where do I get my ID?

 You can get your Yale ID when you arrive on campus. To get your ID go to the Yale ID center which is located at 57 Lock Street, 1st Floor (behind the Yale Health building). You will need your Yale NetID and a government issued photo ID.

From the Sterling Law Building go out through the Grove Street door and make a left on to Grove Street. Take a right on Ashmun Street and right on Lock Street.   The ID Center is located between the Yale Police Department and Yale Health. 

 When can I get my office keys?

Your assistant will have your office keys, please contact them prior to your arrival on campus to arrange a meeting time and place. If your assistant is not available contact Building Services at 203 432 4980. Further information is available here:Law School Office and Keys

 When will I be able to meet my faculty assistant and what tasks can I give them to do?

 Where’s my faculty assistant located?

 Can I get a research assistant?

Visiting Professor can hire research assistants. Detailed information on the process is available here: Research Assistants

 Who do I contact if I have onboarding questions in Workday?

Visiting faculty should contact the Law School Office of Academic Affairs. Online assistance is available here: https://workday.training.yale.edu/self-service

 Who do I contact if my paycheck doesn’t seem right?

 How do I get paid? Can I get direct deposit?

 I need parking in lot #78. How do I go about getting that done?

Buildings

 How do I access the Yale Law School Buildings?

Your Yale ID card allows you access to all Law School buildings. Wave your ID card by the card reader located near the building doorway, this will unlock the door and allow entry.

 Will I get an orientation to the building?

Please work with Academic Affairs to arrange an orientation and tour of the Law School buildings.

 Will I have access to the law library?

Yes, the main reading room is located on the third floor of the Sterling Law Building. Your Yale ID card is used to check-out books. For more information on library hours and services visit the library website at: https://library.law.yale.edu

 Where are the restrooms located?

Restrooms are located on all floors, except the first floor in the Sterling Law Building.

Classrooms/Classes

 I will be rescheduling some of my classes to another time how do I communicate that with the Registrar’s Office and how do I schedule classroom space?

Please notify your class via Canvas of any class schedule changes and email registrar.law@yale.edu to coordinate rescheduling your class and reserving a classroom.
